  • MUDS Data Science Online Seminar for High School Students

On December 21, I participated in Musashino University Data Science Online Seminar for High School Students. The event is themed “Society in the Future Created by Data Science,” with a talk between me and Associate Professor Takafumi Nakanishi.

Professor Nakanishi asked me questions about how data science is used and will be used in the future, in the strategic corporate initiatives where I am involved. I asked Professor Nakahishi about his researches and thoughts about the related data science themes.

We discussed such themes as digital strategy, digital transformation, digital marketing, subscription, and new business development utilizing design thinking.

Our talk covered my experience at Amazon and mentor role in Launch X Summer Program for high school students interested in entrepreneurship. I touched on Kiara Inc., an example of startups I am working with. Kiara’s App utilizes Artificial Intelligence to address the significant social challenge of language barrier.

We also discussed MUDS 未来創造プロジェクト (Project to Create Future), in which I participated as part of the panel at the presentation event. I shared how impressed I was with students who picked their own themes and delivered results – in some cases with demos – within 10 months. We discussed long-term career development for high school students interested in data science. The event concluded with a Q and A session with the audience, primarily high school students.

It was my pleasure if our talk provided participating high school students with insights into data science – how it is used in the business, will be used in the future, and what learning opportunities MUDS provides.

I personally enjoyed the event as I could discuss various data science themes with Professor Nakanishi and high school students. Let me extend my sincere thanks to MUDS who offered this wonderful opportunity.
