  • Student Presentation Event at Faculty of Data Science, Musashino University

On January 22, I attended the student presentation event at the Faculty of Data Science, Musashino University. In the event, the first year students presented their projects from the class, ” 未来創造プロジェクト” (the Japanese class name means “project to create future.”)

In the class, students learn in a small group setting about how to utilize data science skills and knowledge in addressing the real life issues. The projects, which students pick on their own, span across AI system design, service design, IoT, robotics, digital business innovation, and marketing.

In the poster sessions and presentations, over 70 first year students explained about their projects, all of them unique and brilliant. Faculty members and attendees from participating companies voted and presented awards to the best projects. Among them, I offered an award to a project aimed at helping the physically challenged, taking advantage of state-of-the-art technologies including IoT device. From the presentation with an impressive demonstration, I felt an enormous potential to contribute to the society.

I believe an ability to create solutions for problems of society, companies, and users would make students much needed talents even after graduating from the university. I thought the program is excellent as students can choose their own theme and learn about the problem-solving approach in a practical manner. I felt tremendous possibility of students who made a remarkable progress in just ten months.

I would like to extend thanks to Data Science faculty members who allowed me to be part of the wonderful event.
