  • Keynote Presentation at TMG Event on Global Open Innovation

On February 19, I had an opportunity to make a keynote presentation at the matching event sponsored by Tokyo Metropolitan Government. The event targeted Japanese small companies and foreign multinationals, with my presentation themed “Growing Opportunities of Global Open Innovation for Japanese and multinational companies.

Participating companies included multinationals – mostly startups – and Japanese small companies. The multinational startups offer unique services based on technologies and know-how in such areas as AI, robotics, and IoT. My presentation first introduced the concept of Open Innovation, “the use of purposive inflows and outflows of knowledge to accelerate internal innovation, and expand the markets for external use of innovation.” My presentation also covered the successful case study of NextDrive – one of the participating companies – analysis of Amazon’s model with AWS and Alexa, and survey of participating companies and real-time questionnaire, which made the presentation interactive. Magency – another participating company – kindly allowed me to use their realtime communication tool called Sparkup.

A networking event followed the presentation, where I could exchange information with participating companies, both Japanese and multinational. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and Pasona who organized the event.
